Every month, The Filo Bloggers United, a group of Filipino online influencers, agree on a specific theme and we do our own interpretation by coming up with a look on our respective blogs. Our little collaboration is still fairly new–but so far the response has been amazing. I guess readers love seeing our own take on these looks and they get inspired by a blogger they can relate to. Paul, based in UAE, is dapper and sophisticated. Kiko who’s based in Japan is more experimental and of course, inspired by Japanese fashion. AJ, who’s moving to Norway soon, is more polished and into classics. This month we welcome Denny Balmaceda, a Filipino menswear blogger based in NYC. I’ve been following this guy since 2009 and I can say that he remained true to his quirky style and his love for vintage clothing.

For this month’s theme, we let Denny decide on what key piece we should experiment on. The verdict? Polo shirts. I wasn’t too excited about it but I was up for the challenge. I wear polo shirts occasionally but it doesn’t inspire me because you can’t really do much with it in terms of styling. You can either tuck it in, tuck it out, wear it with or without a jacket. That’s about it. With summer finally upon us, you really have no choice but to wear it as is. If I was in the city, I’d probably style this tucked in a pair of grey trousers, oxfords and wayfarers. The amazing thing about this collaboration with other menswear bloggers is the fact that they’re in different parts of the globe–and they all have very distinct personal styles. It’s inspiring to see they’re own take on these challenges and it always leave me inspired! Any suggestions on what theme we should do next month?
